Hello, after default couchdb installation the files in /etc/couchdb are owned by root:root. But if you want to add an admin user or change the admin password with couchdb (and possibly other things too) you get an error (see attachment) because couchdb want/need to write in this files. Thanks for fixing :)

I have the same problem. Changing permissions fixes the problem: chown root:couchdb /etc/couchdb/*.ini chmod 660 /etc/couchdb/local.ini chmod 664 /etc/couchdb/default.ini
This has been fixed already.
