Comment 1 Gaetan 2011-09-13 08:19:38 UTC
Actually, fixed after recompiling sys-apps/attr with USE="static-libs"

...and obviously that's neither a bug nor the fix.

It was simply a revdep-rebuild case.
Comment 3 Gaetan 2011-09-13 14:18:31 UTC
revdep-rebuild hadn't fixed the missing .la.
Comment 4 Rafał Mużyło 2011-09-13 15:12:59 UTC
Well, it should still be missing, but after revdep-rebuild the la file that referenced /usr/lib64/libattr.la no longer should.
Comment 5 Gaetan 2011-09-15 13:47:12 UTC
I can confirm that, after revdep-rebuild, that /usr/lib64/libattr.la is still missing.

Is this a bug?
Comment 6 Mike Gilbert gentoo-dev 2011-09-16 03:10:31 UTC
Can you try running lafilefixer --justfixit? If that does not fix the problem, please attach a full build log.
Comment 7 Rafał Mużyło 2011-09-16 15:28:54 UTC
For those, that couldn't get it the first time:
neither revdep-rebuild, nor lafilefixer should create the "missing" file, instead they should make it redundant, so whatever the problem with gettext was, should be no longer reprodicible.
Comment 8 Mike Gilbert gentoo-dev 2011-09-16 16:00:30 UTC
(In reply to comment #7)

Ah, yes. The goal here is to have a working gettext build, not to have a .la file present.
