Description vax456 2011-09-11 22:51:02 UTC
Every time I click on the date/time applet in the gnome panel, it outputs to my .xsession-erros:

(gnome-shell-calendar-server:3031): libecal-CRITICAL **: file e-cal.c: line 4207: assertion `zone' failed
Error setting timezone on calendar: file e-cal.c: line 4207: assertion `zone' failed

From gnome-shell-calendar-server.c's app_load_events function, the App* argument has some obscure error that prevents the default timezone from being set. It tries to run e_cal_set_default_timezone, but fails. Then the loop runs a continue, skipping the code that loads the calendar.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Click on the date/time applet in the gnome panel
Actual Results:
No calendars are loaded

Expected Results:
Evolution's calendars should appear

Still valid with 3.2 from main tree?
Comment 2 vax456 2012-01-16 06:36:56 UTC
I did a fresh Gentoo install and the calendar applet didn't display any of my calendar events and the .xsession-errors displayed this:

(gnome-shell-calendar-server:2954): libecal-CRITICAL **: file e-cal.c: line 4528: assertion `zone' failed
Error setting timezone on calendar: file e-cal.c: line 4528: assertion `zone' failed

My /etc/localtime is set to US/Eastern and the timezone from the Gnome 3 Date and Time Settings was set to New York.

After setting the time zone in Date and Time Settings to a different city, but the same time zone, it started displaying my calendar events.

I haven't a clue why that happened or if this is really a bug.
Comment 3 Alexandre Rostovtsev (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2012-01-21 02:27:10 UTC
There are some timezone handling changes in evolution-data-server-3.2.3. Please update to evolution-data-server-3.2.3 and evolution-3.2.3 (added to portage a short time ago) and see if the bug is still present.
