I have noticed that several packages pulled libgee-0.7.0 as dependency. Please note that:

1. libgee-0.7/0.8 is not API/ABI compatible with previous version and packages will require patches to build against new version
2. libgee-0.7.0 is unstable release and the ABI and API will change. It is not intended for widespread use

It does not need masking, i would say that packages that pull libgee-0.7 should have proper slot dependency.

Yes, this shouldn't be a problem if packages are depending on proper SLOT, then, if you find a package needing slot :0 but not depending on it, open a bug against it to fix dependency.
