You > need to find out why it does not for you. You are right. I misread the dependency line when checking for possible reasons. It originally failed in paludis, and when I checked with portage, I just checked that it fails and didn't notice that texlive-fontutils was masked under portage. I'll redirect my problem to paludis authors, thanks.
