Description CJ Kucera 2004-01-14 07:33:12 UTC
I tried emerging OpenOffice 1.1.0-r2 last night, and when I got in this morning I noticed that the process seems to have been stuck at the same place since early in the morning. The last thing on the screen was:

Preprocessor startline: rscpp @/var/tmp/portage/openoffice-1.1.0-r2/temp/fileHXzqAC
Preprocessor commandline: -I../unxlngi4.pro/res/49 -I../unxlngi4.pro/res/49 -I. ./unx/res -I../res -I../win/res -I../../res -I../win/res -I../source/svdraw -I/var/tmp/portage/openoffice-1.1.0-r2/work/oo_1.1_src -I../inc -I. -I/var/tmp/portage/openoffice-1.1.0-r2/work/oo_1.1_src/solver/645/unxlngi4.pro/inc/stl -I/var/tmp/portage/openoffice-1.1.0-r2/work/oo_1.1_src/solver/645/unxlngi4.pro/inc/external -I/var/tmp/portage/openoffice-1.1.0-r2/work/oo_1.1_src/solver/645/unxlngi4.pro/inc -I/var/tmp/portage/openoffice-1.1.0-r2/work/oo_1.1_src/solenv/unxlngi4/inc -I/var/tmp/portage/openoffice-1.1.0-r2/work/oo_1.1_src/solenv/inc -I/var/tmp/portage/openoffice-1.1.0-r2/work/oo_1.1_src/res -I/var/tmp/portage/openoffice-1.1.0-r2/work/oo_1.1_src/solver/645/unxlngi4.pro/inc/stl -I/var/tmp/portage/openoffice-1.1.0-r2/work/oo_1.1_src/solenv/inc/Xp31 -I/opt/blackdown-jdk-1.4.1/include -I/opt/blackdown-jdk-1.4.1/include/linux -I/opt/blackdown-jdk-1.4.1/include/native_threads/include -I/usr/X11R6/include ../unxlngi4.pro/srs/mnuctrls.srs /var/tmp/portage/openoffice-1.1.0-r2/temp/fileLZOAxV
Preprocessor startline: rscpp @/var/tmp/portage/openoffice-1.1.0-r2/temp/file7kjLue
# 1 ""

I also noticed at this point that typing anything into the term would result in the line being echoed back to me:

fg
fg
hello
hello

It's a bit strange. I tried hitting Ctrl-D, and the compile decided to continue again, but I'm guessing this caused some kind of problem anyway. Here are the processes that were running at the time:

root 9201 5912 0 Jan13 pts/6 00:00:06 /usr/bin/python /usr/bin/emerge -u world
root 10681 9201 0 Jan13 pts/6 00:00:00 [openoffice-1.1.0-r2] sandbox /usr/sbin/ebuild.sh compile
root 10682 10681 0 Jan13 pts/6 00:00:00 /bin/bash /usr/sbin/ebuild.sh compile
root 14895 10682 0 Jan13 pts/6 00:00:00 tcsh build.tcsh
root 14896 14895 0 Jan13 pts/6 00:00:03 perl -S /var/tmp/portage/openoffice-1.1.0-r2/work/oo_1.1_src/solenv/bin/build.pl --a
root 7560 14896 0 01:15 pts/6 00:00:00 dmake product=full
root 8136 7560 0 01:16 pts/6 00:00:00 -bin/tcsh -fc rsc -presponse @/var/tmp/portage/openoffice-1.1.0-r2/temp/mkgeNODq
root 8137 8136 0 01:16 pts/6 00:00:00 rsc -presponse @/var/tmp/portage/openoffice-1.1.0-r2/temp/mkgeNODq
root 8143 8137 0 01:16 pts/6 00:00:00 rscpp @/var/tmp/portage/openoffice-1.1.0-r2/temp/file7kjLue

(You'll see from the timestamps that these have been running since 1:16AM. When I did the process list, it was in the 8:00AM hour.

I'll be trying the emerge again tonight to see if that fixes anything, but figured I should put this in the system anyway.

Reproducible: Didn't try
Steps to Reproduce:
1. (will try again tonight)
2.
3.

Looks like your disk is full, could you please check if that is the case. Openoffice needs lots of diskspace to compile
Comment 2 CJ Kucera 2004-01-14 14:59:37 UTC
Woo, looks like the problem was, indeed, /var filling up. Crazy. Guess 2GB wasn't quite enough, eh? :) Thanks!
