I have an onboard broadcom 5788 NIC, and the driver that is included on the "athlon xp" install CD does not work with this NIC itself. After being forced to do a stage 3 install, I had to patch my kernel with a new updated driver off broadcom's website to allow the NIC to work. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Load up liveCD 2. Attempt to load the bcm5700 driver Actual Results: An error message appears saying there is no device that match's the driver. Expected Results: Loaded the driver perfectly, Recognised my NIC and allowed a stage 1 or 2 install.
I have a Broadcom 5788 NIC built-in to my new MSI board and I use the Broadcom tg3 driver in the 2.6 kernel and it works fine (the 2.6 kernel is on latest non-arch specific experimental LiveCD) you just need to download a stage2 tarball afterwards (if that is what you want) which you can do as your NIC now works off of a LiveCD :)
This should be fixed in next release
