Description Tim Bowers 2011-08-29 08:55:51 UTC
Opening the bookmarks menu (maybe other menus, not yet tested) causes firefox to freeze and become non-responsive.

On build firefox happens _every_ time - tested about 10 times
On bin opened bookmarks menu once, then crashed.

Reproducible: Sometimes

Steps to Reproduce:
1. emerge firefox or firefox-bin with ~amd64
2. start firefox
3. open bookmarks dropdown
4. firefox freezes
Actual Results:
Firefox freezes, streaming media stops. Must be killed

Expected Results:
Show bookmarks dropdown

Please post your `emerge --info www-client/firefox' output too.

Ok now this is a weird one.... I removed firefox, emerged firefox-bin and it worked for 2 days now its doing the same as the original firefox.

emerge --info:

tim@MushaV3 ~/bin/df_linux $ sudo emerge --info www-client/firefox-bin

www-client/firefox-bin-6.0 was built with the following:
USE="(multilib) startup-notification" LINGUAS="en en_GB -af -ak -ar -ast -be -bg -bn -bn_BD -bn_IN -br -bs -ca -cs -cy -da -de -el -en_US -en_ZA -eo -es -es_AR -es_CL -es_ES -es_MX -et -eu -fa -fi -fr -fy -fy_NL -ga -ga_IE -gd -gl -gu -gu_IN -he -hi -hi_IN -hr -hu -hy -hy_AM -id -is -it -ja -kk -kn -ko -ku -lg -lt -lv -mai -mk -ml -mr -nb -nb_NO -nl -nn -nn_NO -nso -or -pa -pa_IN -pl -pt -pt_BR -pt_PT -rm -ro -ru -si -sk -sl -son -sq -sr -sv -sv_SE -ta -ta_LK -te -th -tr -uk -vi -zh -zh_CN -zh_TW -zu"

Also I'm seeing in a terminal:

tim@MushaV3 ~/bin/df_linux $ firefox-bin

(npviewer.bin:2501): Gtk-WARNING **: /usr/lib/gtk-2.0/2.10.0/engines/libxfce.so: wrong ELF class: ELFCLASS64
Failed to open VDPAU backend libvdpau_nvidia.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

However accessing the bookmarks menu doesn't cause an error, it simply freezes and I end up killing it.

Also I've completed rebuild world - emerge -e world.... same issue after.

Figured it out in the end after someone mentioned how both the bookmarks and history use sqlite.

Moved ./.Mozilla/firefox/profile/<randomstring> ./Mozilla/firefox/profile/<randomstring>.bak

Started up firefox - no more crash.

I then recalled that firefox may of crashed during the initial setting up of the sync. However it should just die like this if that happens - tut tut!.

Closing as fixed/noop
