Description Manolis Tzanidakis 2002-06-17 08:47:50 UTC
I have USE="spell" but when emerging sylpheed-claws-0.7.8 I get the following
message on configure :

checking for pspell-config... /usr/bin/pspell-config
checking for pspell - version >= .12.2... no
*** Could not run pspell test program, checking why...
*** The test program failed to compile or link. See the file config.log
*** for the exact error that occured. This usually means pspell was
*** incorrectly installed or that you have moved pspell since it was
*** installed. In the latter case, you may want to edit the
*** pspell-config script: /usr/bin/pspell-config

#emerge -s pspell
app-text/pspell
      Latest version Available: 0.12.2-r2
      Latest version Installed: 0.12.2-r2

I've built everything from 1.1a - stage1 with "march=i686 -pipe -O3
-fomit-frame-pointer"

try to remerge pspell and then sylpheed-claws again, please.

I am unable to duplicate this error on my machine

I tried re-emerging both pspell & sylpheed-claws but still the same. I tried
also to configure syl manually (--enable-pspell --with-pspell-libs=/usr/lib
--with-pspell-includes=/usr/include) but got the same error.

Silly me -- the spell flag was not in my USE due to some other package testing I
was doing :/ After adding it, I get the exact same problem. I'm investigating
as we speak, but if you have some insight or info, please do let me know :)

Turns out this was a problem with the pspell ebuild. I have adjusted that to
make this work correctly. So, please emerge rsync, and emerge pspell (or -u
world, but make sure pspell is in the list). Then when you remerge
sylpheed-claws, you'll get pspell support :)
thanks for catching that, coz I completely missed it.

Ok, it works now. Thanx a lot :)
