Description Sławomir Nizio 2011-08-28 12:16:53 UTC
Tested on amd64 and x86.
I know xmlto 0.0.23 is old, but since it's in Portage, why not fix the dep? I've encountered the error, and someone else could, too.

This version of awesome builds fine with app-text/xmlto-0.0.24 and app-text/xmlto-0.0.24-r1, so please fix the DEPEND to =app-text/xmlto-0.0.24. Thanks!

Reproducible: Always
Comment 1 Sławomir Nizio 2011-08-28 12:17:55 UTC
I meant >=app-text/xmlto-0.0.24.
Comment 2 Jeroen Roovers (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2011-08-28 17:35:52 UTC
What does actually go wrong here?

1) Please post your `emerge --info' output.
2) Attach the entire build log.

> What does actually go wrong here?
Build fails with app-text/xmlto-0.2.23 at the stage of creating manual page.
The exact command that fails (and returns exit status 1) appears to be:

/usr/bin/xmlto man (...some-path-here...)/manpages/man1/awesome.1.xml

from CMakeFiles/man.dir/build.make.

> 1) Please post your `emerge --info' output.

Two notes here:
* confirmed on a different system,
* confirmed after executing the mentioned command (xmlto) manually (fails with xmlto 0.2.23, succeeds with xmto 0.2.24).

It has nothing to do with -j<n> option to make, but it's best to use -j1, because otherwise jobs that execute in parallel cause the log to be "messed up", a bit more difficult to read and investigate.
I'll attach the logs using -j1 make option passed via MAKEOPTS with app-text/xmlto-0.0.23.

Comment 5 Sławomir Nizio 2011-08-28 18:59:06 UTC
Eww, let me rephrase the last sentence to be supa clear.

"I'll attach the logs using -j1 make option passed via MAKEOPTS with
app-text/xmlto-0.0.23."

-j1 passed to emerge awesome;
app-text/xmlto-0.0.23 installed on system.

Thanks

Sorry for the mess - awesome builds fine with app-text/xmlto-0.0.23. Problem was somewhere else. I'm marking this bug as Invalid then.
