When a user upgrades from 2.6.x kernel to 3.x, the Gentoo Linux Kernel Upgrade Guide does not address all needed steps. For example you have to edit your /etc/conf.d/modules and change variables modules_2_6* to modules_3*. Are there any other changes? Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. A user decides to upgrade kernel 2. http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/kernel-upgrade.xml does not list changes in /etc/conf.d/modules 3. After reboot to a new kernel, modules are not loaded Actual Results: System is not updated properly Expected Results: All modules are loaded like they were in 2.6.x kernels
This is not specific to upgrading towards the 3.x series. I'll incorporate a section on the /etc/conf.d/modules file (I'm not aware of another file or setting that needs to be taken into account).
Fixed in CVS. Thanks for reporting!
