This bug report is for tracking the fact that when using gnome-shell with nvidia-drivers version 270.* or 275.*, system tray icons (bottom right corner of the screen) in gnome-shell are misrendered: they are all identical. I can confirm that this particular issue was fixed in the nvidia-drivers-280.13 release (not in portage yet). See the 280.13 release notes[1] ("Fixed a GLX_EXT_texture_from_pixmap bug that caused corruption when texturing from sufficiently small pixmaps") and the forum thread on nvnews[2]. (Note that this bug report should not be interpreted as a request to immediately unmask 280.13, since icons are a cosmetic issue, and 280.13 is still affected by bug #375615.) This version is in the tree but masked due to other issues, you can try it if you'd like by unmasking it.
