I'm not sure we should put this in, it's legacy font configuration stuff we're trying to move away from. It's gtk1 and pretty much unmaintained what i can see. There is no original homepage, only the debian mirrors have copies of the sources.

And i think i looked at this a long while ago while it was stil being developed, but i wasn't too impressed by its stability back then.

Sure, though it seems to work fine here.
I did notice the same thing about the home page etc.
The xfontselector depends on qt, which I don't really want/need.

yeah, well my main reason is just that it is sort of too old. Most desktop users don't need this kind of tool anymore, and xfontsel is probably sufficient for the ones who do in my opinion. The gnome team is not interested in maintaining this at this time anymore, because we think the userbase is too small.
