It seems that the last pecl-memcached 2.0.0_beta2 added in tree rely on a symbol of libmemcached that is not present in the version in portage (0.39). So I think that 2.0.0_beta2 should be masked until libmemcached is updated in tree (bug #354261). Of course, reverting to pecl-memcached-1.02 fixes the issue.
