Upgraded to virtualbox-bin-4.1.2 from 4.0.10 and it stopped working. Trying to run it you get:

The VirtualBox kernel modules do not match this version of VirtualBox.

These packages are installed:
app-emulation/virtualbox-bin-4.1.2
app-emulation/virtualbox-modules-4.1.2

Worked with the previous version but fails with the new version.

Reproducible: Always

Correction, the previous version had been 4.0.12 not 4.0.10

Please make sure that you have

a) compiled the modules for your currently running kernel (hint: /usr/src/linux symlink)
b) unloaded the old virtualbox modules and loaded the new ones


I just tried to reproduce your problem on my test machine with no success. Both virtualbox-4.1.2 and virtualbox-bin-4.1.2 had no version mismatch issues with virtualbox-modules-4.1.2
