as noted at the end of the merge-process, you should validate gamess on your platform by running the tests. the script for checking the results will fail with:

GMSPATH: Undefined variable.

because of a wrong path assingment in the script. please apply the attached patch. thanks!!

oh, and as a side note:
please add a note in the einfo-section, that it is neccessary to add an entry like this:

kernel.shmmax = 1610612736

in /etc/sysctl.conf, otherwise the tests will fail..

I simply forgot about tests because i use my own test scripts
