When I try to emerge openoffice, compile terminates with a LONG string of errors. The first seems to be a missing include directory, followed by a string of syntax errors. Will attach log of compile. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. emerge openoffice Actual Results: See attached compile log. Expected Results: Successful build. see attached compile log. emerge info: Portage 2.0.49-r20 (default-x86-1.4, gcc-3.2.3, glibc-2.2.5-r4,2.3.2-r3, 2.6.1-rc1-mm2-rf33) ================================================================= System uname: 2.6.1-rc1-mm2-rf33 i686 Pentium III (Coppermine) Gentoo Base System version 1.4.3.10p1 ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="x86" AUTOCLEAN="yes" CFLAGS="-march=pentium3 -O2 -pipe -fomit-frame-pointer" CHOST="i686-pc-linux-gnu" COMPILER="gcc3" CONFIG_PROTECT="/etc /home /opt/zetagrid /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/xkb /usr/kde/2/share/config /usr/kde/3.1/share/config /usr/kde/3/share/config /usr/share/config /usr/share/texmf/tex/generic/config/ /usr/share/texmf/tex/platex/config/ /var/bind /var/freenet /var/qmail/control /var/www" CONFIG_PROTECT_MASK="/etc/gconf /etc/env.d" CXXFLAGS="-march=pentium3 -O2 -pipe -fomit-frame-pointer" DISTDIR="/usr/portage/distfiles" FEATURES="autoaddcvs ccache gpg sandbox severe userpriv usersandbox" GENTOO_MIRRORS="http://www.ibiblio.org/gentoo ftp://mirror.iawnet.sandia.gov/pub/gentoo/ ftp://ftp.ucsb.edu/pub/mirrors/linux/gentoo/ http://gentoo.seren.com/gentoo" MAKEOPTS="-j2" PKGDIR="/usr/portage/packages" PORTAGE_TMPDIR="/var/tmp" PORTDIR="/usr/portage" PORTDIR_OVERLAY="/usr/local/portage" SYNC="rsync://rsync.us.gentoo.org/gentoo-portage" USE="X acpi acpi4linux alsa apache2 apm arts avi berkdb bonobo cdr crypt cups dvd encode esd ethereal evms2 evo fbcon foomaticdb gdbm ggi gif glut gnome gpm gtk gtk2 gtkhtml guile imap imlib innodb java jpeg kde libg++ libwww mad maildir mikmod motif mozilla mpeg mysql ncurses nls oggvorbis opengl oss pam pda pdflib perl php png python qt quicktime readline samba sasl scanner sdl slang spell sse ssl svga tcltk tcpd tetex tiff truetype wmf x86 xml2 xmms xv zlib"
Created attachment 23670 [details] compile log - trimmed I trimmed out all but the final lines - the whole log is 21MB in size.
The bug is no longer reproducible for me - on repeating the attempt several times it terminated with a variety of errors, and then finally worked. Perhaps the ebuild needs to disable parallel make (I've noticed problems like this with parallel make before - I don't have it explicitly enabled in make.conf, but it seems to be the new default for portage)?
Closing this, thanks for your report anyway
