please do not CC arch teams on your own. Also submit the full build.log. Thanks
Comment 3 Richard Hering 2011-08-09 22:45:01 UTC
there is no build.log when you compile a kernel with make
Comment 4 Ian Delaney (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2011-08-10 01:30:09 UTC
Richard,

sorry to say, but the thing does compile

2. make oldconfig (with working config from 2.6.34

is about all I did too.

(Tell how you managed to get the 2.6.38 patches)

99% sure there's something awry in your config... So what say you enter yours in an attachment and I shall get it going in mine, then pin the diffs.
Comment 5 Richard Hering 2011-08-11 07:29:48 UTC
Patches are from here: http://dev.gentoo.org/~mpagano/genpatches/tarballs/

Errors like "error: expected ‘)’ before ‘handle’" caused by config??? I dont think so!

You have to enable ACPI support in your config (`Power management and ACPI options`).

I just experienced the same problem.
Comment 10 Richard Hering 2011-09-14 11:03:54 UTC
thx, with ACPI it compiles fine
