Hi, dunetools is a package that allows userspace access to Pinnacle PCTV Deluxe. Currently there exists no real driver for it. dunetools uses libusb to access Pinnacle PCTV Deluxe in userspace and has to be run as root. The ebuild installs dunerec not suid root, because it is a security risk. Using the -R <outputfile> option any user could overwrite any file on the target system. dunerec delivers an MPEG stream which can directly piped to a player, e.g. dunerec -R - <options> | mplayer -framedrop -vo x11 - dunetools requires the firmware files from the Pinnacle PCTV Deluxe CD to run. I think it is impossible for the developers to test and maintain this package, if they don't have access to a PCTV Deluxe. I own one, so I could maintain the package if I'm a developer. :) The SRC_URI doesn't points to the official location, because the author only provides a file without version info, so I made a date-stamped version and put it online. Well, just noticed that there's a category media-tv, which is the best fit for this package :)
