Well... yes, you rephrased somewhat my problem. I expect git to link against dev-libs/libpcre when the already existing "perl" flag is used. Alternatively, a new "pcre" flag could be used for that specific purpose, but in all case, it is impossible for now to have a working git aware of Perl regex "-P, --perl-regexp".
