Huh, I wasn't notified of this comment. At any rate, a few things have changed now, and things work. - removed nfs4 support from the kernel (2.6.39-gentoo-r3) - specified 'nfs' and not 'nfs4' in fstab - upgraded to sys-util/util-linux-2.19.1-r1 I'd do some more experimentation to figure out *which* fixed it, but this host is my mail server, among other things -- which probably explains missing the bugzilla notification!
