Description darin hensley 2011-08-01 14:16:29 UTC
Only when Aide is built statically, it will not run correctly. When running aide -i it errors out with:

localhost one # aide -i
38:Error in expression:¶bq
Configuration error
localhost one #

*Note: Each time this command is ran the expression changes to some other weird ascii control characters.

This problem does not happen when built dynamically.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.emerge aide-0.15.1 USE="mhash nls (selinux) static zlib"
2.Successful compile
3.Aide will not run
Actual Results:
localhost one # aide -i
38:Error in expression:Fr
Configuration error
localhost one #

localhost one # aide -i
38:Error in expression:6Br
Configuration error
localhost one #

localhost one # aide -i
38:Error in expression:6Br
Configuration error
localhost one #

localhost one # aide -i
38:Error in expression:V*r
Configuration error
localhost one #

Expected Results:
obviouse....it runs right

localhost one # emerge --info

Comment 1 darin hensley 2011-08-01 14:17:22 UTC
Selinux is in permissive mode.
Comment 2 darin hensley 2011-08-05 12:16:09 UTC
Same problem with app-forensics/aide-0.14.2
Comment 3 Coacher 2017-05-28 17:19:27 UTC
Cannot reproduce your problem with aide-0.16, which is a next stable candidate.
That configuration error suggests it may be reproducible only with your aide.conf.
Comment 4 Coacher 2017-07-01 13:49:39 UTC
Not reproducible with 0.16
