Description Timothy Miller 2011-07-31 16:35:06 UTC
I found bug 374143, but I'm not sure that this is related. I'm getting this message:

WARNING: One or more updates have been skipped due to a dependency conflict:

sys-apps/gawk:0

  (sys-apps/gawk-4.0.0::gentoo, ebuild scheduled for merge) conflicts with
    <sys-apps/gawk-4.0.0 required by (dev-db/virtuoso-server-6.1.3::gentoo, installed)

I'm not sure what is the difference between sys-apps/gawk-4.0.0::gentoo and sys-apps/gawk-4.0.0. Why should there be two packages with basically the same name that are in conflict? This seems to me like it might be a bug. (Or rather, the wrong name in some dependencies.)

$ equery depends sys-apps/gawk-4.0.0
 * These packages depend on sys-apps/gawk-4.0.0:
app-portage/gentoolkit-0.3.0.4-r1 (sys-apps/gawk)
dev-db/virtuoso-odbc-6.1.3 (<sys-apps/gawk-4.0.0)
dev-db/virtuoso-server-6.1.3 (<sys-apps/gawk-4.0.0)
media-video/mjpegtools-2.0.0-r1 (sys-apps/gawk)

$ equery depends sys-apps/gawk-4.0.0::gentoo
 * These packages depend on sys-apps/gawk-4.0.0:
app-portage/gentoolkit-0.3.0.4-r1 (sys-apps/gawk)
dev-db/virtuoso-odbc-6.1.3 (<sys-apps/gawk-4.0.0)
dev-db/virtuoso-server-6.1.3 (<sys-apps/gawk-4.0.0)
media-video/mjpegtools-2.0.0-r1 (sys-apps/gawk)

Apparently, equerry doesn't distinguish them. I tried adding '=' to the start of the name, but all that did was list the two virtuoso packages.

Reproducible: Always

Never mind. I misinterpreted the '<' on <sys-apps/gawk-4.0.0 as punctuation and therefore didn't correctly read the error message.
