Updating my system from pari 2.5.0 to 2.5.0-r2 failed due to file collisions between sci-mathematics/pari-data-20110727 and sci-mathematics/pari-2.5.0:

The workaround for this problem is simple:
emerge -C pari:0 && emerge -1 pari:0

The proper solution would probably be having pari-data block older pari versions. I guess a soft block should do to avoid collision problems.
