I also get a build failure, though it says a different thing. I am not sure if both issues are related (if they are not I'll open a new bug) but maybe they are.

Emerge complains that I need to set CONFIG_X86_POWERNOW_K8 in my kernel as a module, but it's already set that way...

# zgrep CONFIG_X86_POWERNOW_K8 /proc/config.gz
CONFIG_X86_POWERNOW_K8=m

Comment 3 Jesús Guerrero Botella (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2011-08-16 11:00:51 UTC
After looking a bit more into this, I guess this belongs upstream. The sources are incompatible with 3.x releases not only because of the Makefile check. I tried to bypass that and they don't compile either because of some undeclared stuff. I don't know if there's some other kernel requirement that's not met or if something changed in 3.x which makes it incompatible with phc-k8.

Comment 4 Michael Weber (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2011-11-18 08:44:54 UTC
There is a newer version w/o this symbol errors.

I've added an pkg_pretend checking for kernel sources < 3 0 0.
