With gnome-base/gnome-settings-daemon-3.0.2 and earlier, my ThinkPad's volume keys and "ThinkVantage" (Launch1) keys work fine in GNOME. When I upgraded to gnome-base/gnome-settings-daemon-3.0.2-r1 they stopped working, even though they are reported by "xev" and even in the Control Center, I am able to map them to commands, so it's like they are recognized by X and sorta by GNOME but they don't trigger their respective events. Downgrading back to gnome-settings-daemon-3.0.2 resolves the issue.

I should also add that if I use an external keyboard (via "x2x", for example), it still doesn't work when it used to work before. So the problem appears to not be directly related to the the actual ThinkPad keys.
Mea culpa, I should have noticed that the keygrab patches had reversed logic. Fixed in the overlay by gnome-settings-daemon-3.0.2-r2. Thanks for reporting!
Oh! Yeah, I wanted to diff the ebuilds, but the older one is no longer in the repo, and I was too lazy to diff the changesets. Anyway thanks for the speedy response!
