Description Daniel Bradshaw 2011-07-13 02:43:29 UTC
Hi folks,

I'd like to submit this mirror for the official lists.
It's hosted on a box in our Manchester DC, we have solid dedicated links down to LINX and in to Europe.
Currently running off a Xeon 3040 @ 1.86Ghz, 4G ram and a full 100mbit port but we can easily upgrade any of those specs should the load require it.
We felt it better to be conservative initially instead of throwing more hardware at it than it would ever need :)
The box is dedicated to providing this mirror for the Gentoo project

The server is configured to expose the following resources:

rsync://gentoo.mirrors.icecolo.com/gentoo-portage
(currently following rsync://rsync.de.gentoo.org/gentoo-portage, syncing twice an hour)

http://gentoo.mirrors.icecolo.com/
(currently following rsync://ftp.ussg.iu.edu/gentoo-distfiles, syncing every 4 hours)

The AAAA record needs setting up, but the server is available at 89.238.147.122 and 2a02:40:13::2

Anything I've missed? Anything further need doing?

Regards,
Daniel

Reproducible: Always

Oh, I forgot to mention... Hard drive is a pair of 500gb drives in RAID1.

Hello. On behalf of the mirror-admin team, I want to apologize for not getting back to your bug report. At this time, we are closing ALL new mirror request bugs.

The Gentoo Linux Infrastructure team and the mirror-admin team have found that a plethora of community mirrors exist and adding more requires an exponential amount time from us then we have available. As such, this becomes a more poor user experience than desired because the team cannot keep up. The Gentoo Linux project is not contrained in hardware resources and does not need anymore mirrors (even if your request is for a country that is not represented currently).

Thanks for understanding and thank you for your interest.
With regards,
Jeremy
