The mask still exists for firefox-bin on amd64 (no-multilib); however, the package uses a 64-bit version of the binary from mozilla, since 5.0:

*firefox-bin-5.0 (26 Jun 2011)

+files/firefox-bin-prefs.js:
Bump to 5.0, we now install the 64-bit build for amd64 instead of the 32-bit
build with emul x86 libs
