Ok, as it seems to not even build anymore I masked it for now until there is a new version. Tim, unmask it at your pleasure.

kportage-0.6.1-r1.ebuild

I wanted to get rid of python 2.2 too, but I don't like porthole and similar
applications in app-portage. Kportage is still the best alternative to browse
the tree. 

WARNING: This ebuild is for python 2.3 only, it DOESN'T FIX KPortage, so DON'T
start it as root, don't use the functionality in the toolbar menu, DON'T click
on the settings/portage confguration menu - or better: JUST DON'T USE IT AT
ALL.

kportage was removed from the tree in 2004
