Description ta2002 2011-07-03 06:36:43 UTC
KDE (upstream) are claiming that this is an mplayer problem.

Going back as far as I can remember, clicking on the maximize button enlarges a window to fill up that entire screen, and clicking on the button a second time restores the window to its original size. That no longer happens with mplayer in kde 4.6.3 (running from konsole). Instead, pressing the maximize button now grows the window to a "ratio correct" size that fills up the entire screen horizontally, but leaves the bottom third (or more) of it empty.

Even worse, the maximize button no longer changes to a diamond (from an upward pointing arrow) when clicked, so that it absolutely does nothing after the first click. This means (as far as I can tell) that there is no way to restore mplayer to its original size (with just a click - it is still possible to resize it manually).

Reproducible: Always

Sounds like an mplayer problem indeed.
Comment 2 Reimar Döffinger 2011-08-15 21:17:53 UTC
Could you explain the reasoning for why you/upstream think this is a MPlayer issue?
By the info given it could so far just as well be a bug in how KDE handles the aspect-related window properties.
Comment 3 Reimar Döffinger 2011-08-15 21:48:27 UTC
Btw. I tested with 4.7, and while maximizing works in a way that seems rather bad (even taking into account that maximize != fullscreen is intentional as well as keeping aspect), restoring to original size does actually work.
Comment 4 Johannes Huber (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2011-11-04 23:17:00 UTC
Do you file a bug upstream? It seems that this not a gentoo bug.
Comment 5 Johannes Huber (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2011-12-15 00:51:51 UTC
This is not a gentoo bug. Please upstream a bug upstream.
