Puppet labs released both versions 2.6.9 and 2.7.0 over the weekend. https://projects.puppetlabs.com/projects/puppet/wiki/Release_Notes I've already opened up a bug requesting a bump for version 2.6.9. I suspect most gentoo users are using the 2.6.8 ebuild which is the latest in the tree. 2.6.9 apparently contains some nice patches. 2.7.0 seems more experimental, but there will no doubt be users wanting to use it. Main changes seem to be support for newer versions of ruby plus ensuring a consistent order that puppet performs actions for the same configuration on all nodes. No more having puppet run fine on several nodes and than failing on a different (with same config). Might be good idea to start making 2.6.x the new stable release train within gentoo. 0.25.x seems to be the current stable within gentoo and it is very old. To my knowledge, all the issues that kept 0.25.x users from upgrading to 2.6.x have essentially been addressed or at least there are reasonable work arounds for.
