Description niko2gare 2011-06-24 17:32:34 UTC
no keyboard nor mouse if you count on evdev after starting X, that's annoying :

[ 507.567] (II) LoadModule: "evdev"
[ 507.567] (II) Loading /usr/lib64/xorg/modules/input/evdev_drv.so
[ 507.567] (II) Module evdev: vendor="X.Org Foundation"
[ 507.567] compiled for 1.9.5, module version = 2.6.0
[ 507.567] Module class: X.Org XInput Driver
[ 507.567] ABI class: X.Org XInput driver, version 11.0
[ 507.567] (EE) module ABI major version (11) doesn't match the server's version (12)
[ 507.567] (II) UnloadModule: "evdev"
[ 507.567] (II) Unloading evdev
[ 507.567] (EE) Failed to load module "evdev" (module requirement mismatch, 0)
[ 507.567] (EE) No input driver matching `evdev'

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.upgrade xorg-server from 1.9.5 to 1.10 (stable on amd64 since 23/06)
2.restart X

Actual Results:
no keyboard no mouse work under X

Expected Results:
a working keyboard and mouse under X

i looked around on freedesktop and there is no greater version than 2.6.0.

workaround for me :
- downgrade to xorg-server-1.9.5 and xorg-drivers-1.9, everything works now (i filled this bug using my keyboard and my mouse).
- mask in portage/package.mask.

From the elog of x11-base/xorg-server-1.10.2 :

WARN (postinst)

You must rebuild all drivers if upgrading from <xorg-server-1.10
because the ABI changed. If you cannot start X because
of module version mismatch errors, this is your problem.
You can generate a list of all installed packages in the x11-drivers
category using this command:
	emerge portage-utils; qlist -I -C x11-drivers/
or using sets from portage-2.2:
	emerge @x11-module-rebuild
