After a recent --depclean and revdep rebuild I can no longer build a number of tools including mkvinfo. Both 4.8.0 and the stable version now fail to build against Boost. Does 'eselect boost' help ? What's in the config.log ?
(In reply to comment #2) > Does 'eselect boost' help ? I only had one boost slotted. However adding the ~amd64 boost (1.46) allowed me to build. > What's in the config.log? I lost it from the re-build. Now that I've built 1.46 and then removed it the build seems to be working. I suspect something for autotools was unwedged? I assume it's building for you?

Created attachment 277403 [details] Config log I thought I'd misplaced it, but here it is.
Even if only one version was present, 'eselect boost' was still mandatory. All the errors were about not being able to find boost libs.

It's still a little non-obvious as the configure log shows some bits of boost are found. Is there a way a boost dependant ebuild could offer a better warning to the user? Otherwise I think this bug can be closed. Thanks.
