Playing an avi file with 2 ac3 audio tracks leads to a distorted audio signal with gst-plugins-bad-0.10.21. Switching back to 0.10.19 resolves the problem.

Playback of an avi file with 2 mp3 audio tracks is not a problem, neither is an avi file with only one ac3 audio track distorted. So there is something wrong in this combination.

Playback on x86 (notebook) works flawlessly for all cases. The notebook is using an ac97 soundcard (Intel Centrino), the amd64 desktop is using intel_hda soundcard (Intel X58). I don't know if this information is relevant for solving the problem.

This problem persists with gst-plugins-bad-0.10.22

OK, so futher investigation releaves the problematic package is gst-plugins-good-0.10.30. Reverting back to gst-plugins-good-0.10.28 fixes the problem.

Sorry it took me so long...

Apparently, I'm not able to create an AC3-Sound-Track, so I can only rip one from a DVD -  which means it's all copyright protected material. I did this with a 3 min chapter and blacked out the video stream, but the file is still 25M in size. So obviously I can't attach this file to this bug report. Is there any other way to send you the file?

Is this still an issue with the latest 0.10 versions and/or with 1.0.x versions?

Yes, it is still a problem with both versions. Interestingly the problem seems also related to pulseaudio. On another notebook with an i5 using gnome3 and therefore pulseaudio the videos playback fine.

I doubt this will ever get fixed in 0.10 slot as it's dead for ages, the only option for that would be to provide a patch that fix the bug

Then, I would focus in :1.0 slot... are you confirming that issue with that slot then? What concrete versions of relevant packages (gstreamer and the relevant plugin... I don't remember what package was providing that one in 1.0 finally :S)

No info about 1.0 SLOT has been received. Closing an OBSOLETE for the 0.10 bits. Please reopen with needed info if still an issue, or file a new bug.
