On the website: https://www.vmware.com/tryvmware/p/activate.php?p=vmware-workstation&lp=1 They only seem to offer the file: VMware-Workstation-Full-7.1.4-385536.x86_64.bundle --> https://download2.vmware.com/software/wkst/&filename=VMware-Workstation-Full-7.1.4-385536.i386.bundle https://download2.vmware.com/software/wkst/&filename=VMware-Workstation-Full-7.1.4-385536.x86_64.bundle So the ebuild would need to adapted to change the MY_P variable to: MY_P="${MY_PN}-Full-${MY_PV}" ... except if I missed a possibility to still download the version without "-Full" in its name? Reproducible: Always
VMware Workstation for Linux 32-bit without VMware Tools is still available for download. I can't give you URL, because you need to register and login into vmware website.
Hmm. But it must be hidden / not easy to find, no? Because if I login using the url: https://www.vmware.com/tryvmware/p/activate.php?p=vmware-workstation&lp=1 Then you get only the FULL versions 32bit and 64bit and I don't see any possibility to get to the non-full version. I don't find this very user friendly. But whatever, I create my own ebuild that uses the full version :/
Just to precise why I said: "I don't find this very user friendly" and why I am disappointed here: The ebuild tells the user: * Please download VMware-Workstation-7.1.4-385536.x86_64.bundle * from http://www.vmware.com/products/workstation/ That is exactly what I did. And on this URL everyone will click on "Try for free" button... which brings you exactly to this page: https://www.vmware.com/tryvmware/p/activate.php?p=vmware-workstation&lp=1 On which I was not able to find the non-Full version. Thats why I came to the conslusion: A little more guidance or an ebuild that works with the [easy to find] -Full version would be nice.
I have same problem
I never got an answer to my original request for an explanation /how/ to get the binary and/or why there can't be more guidance. Now there is another person having the same problem --> hence I see this issue as confirmed. And as needs-info in form of an answer/discussion about my comment-3. Please.
