Description Brian Olsen 2002-06-13 17:19:05 UTC
Was building a gentoo 1.3 system on a dual P3-600, 1GB RAM with SCSI drives
using symbios controller.

Kernel options enabled:
LVM for all but /boot and swap partitions.
4GB ram support.
ext3 for boot, reiserfs for all other partitions.
kernel preempt and low latency enabled.

using gentoo-sources: 2.4.19-r7

While building apps, esp c++ ones applications start crashing.
Happened using both original symbios driver and version 2 symbios driver.

dmesg reports:

VM: killing process sh

Back CPU fan is failing, causing the memory nearby to start to cook. memtest86
showed memory problems.
