/usr/bin/X links with /usr/lib/libgcrypt.so.11 which is part of dev-libs/libgcrypt but there is no runtime dependency in ebuild.

Comment 2 Michał Górny archtester Gentoo Infrastructure gentoo-dev Security 2011-06-11 06:00:31 UTC
Looks like we need to pass one of --with-sha1= args and set a dep for that. We can choose between libgcrypt and libcrypto (openssl). Upstream prefers libgcrypt over libcrypto but libcrypto seems like a lighter dependency.
Comment 3 nzqr 2012-05-07 11:07:03 UTC
Maybe it wold be wise to let user choose like with curl and CURL_SSL variable.
Comment 4 Fab 2012-07-27 09:20:58 UTC
Confirming.

Today I install a fresh system using precompiled tbz2 packages. Once xorg-server is installed, it is unable to start because of missing libgcrypt.so.11. xorg-server-1.12.2 on stable amd64.
Comment 5 torindel 2013-03-01 14:51:07 UTC
Since we STILL have hard dep on dev-libs/openssl we should add --with-sha1=libcrypto so it'll use it, instead of allowing it to link with what it pleases.
Patch below.

Per bug 486154, it was decided to hard-code libcrypto.
