Description Ashkan Ghassemi 2011-06-04 04:18:34 UTC
Hi

Please find attached jcal-0.3.0.ebuild as it's currently not available in portage tree.

Jalali calendar is a small and portable free software library to manipulate date and time in Jalali calendar system. (The official Calendar system currently being used in Iran)

I suggest ``sys-libs/jcal'' as it suites package's description, however it has a set of terminal tools bundled with it.

Thanks in advance,
Ashkan

I don't see why it should be in the sys-libs category - dev-libs seems appropriate for now.

Thanks Jeroen.
I thought jcal would be best fit into sys-libs since it implements a minor subset of libc functionalities (such as date and time) for a non-Gregorian calendar system and by that definition it would better be in the same category as e.g. glibc or uclibc. However, dev-libs seems equally appropriate and I'm not complaining.

Is this ebuild going to be added to portage? this is a useful package and I've seen it in many other distribution's repositories like Arch and Debian.

Hello, The Gentoo Team would like to firstly thank you for your ebuild
submission. We also apologize for not being able to accommodate you in a timely
manner. There are simply too many new packages.

Allow me to use this opportunity to introduce you to Gentoo Sunrise. The
sunrise overlay[1] is a overlay for Gentoo which we allow trusted users to
commit to and all users can have ebuilds reviewed by Gentoo devs for entry
into the overlay. So, the sunrise team is suggesting that you look into this
and submit your ebuild to the overlay where even *you* can commit to. =)

Thanks,
On behalf of the Gentoo Sunrise Team,
Michael.
