Was experiencing video corruption in X/KDE using xf86-video-intel-2.14.0, upgrading to xf86-video-intel-2.15.0 seems to have fixed the problem. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Start X/KDE with xf86-video-intel-2.14.0 2. 3. problem seems to be fixed using xf86-video-intel-2.15.0
What kind of video corruption -- font rendering problem that made X terminals hard to read? I've seen that one a few places, such as here (2nd comment): http://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-872631.html Also, would you mind posting your 'emerge --info' output?
Created attachment 276137 [details] emerge --info
Created attachment 276143 [details] desktop snapshot of video corruption re-emerged xf86-video-intel to get a screenshot of what I saw. Here is a snapshot of some of the problems. Notice the window buttons on the top right side of the Kolourpaint program. Also the corruption in the dialog box. This example was not that bad. Some dialog boxes are way worse than this where the entire dialog box is totally unreadable. Seems that the problem occurs mostly around KDE buttons.
So it appears that you are using compositing. Does the problem appear with compositing disabled / XRender / OpenGL? Also ensure that you have eselected the classic mesa driver for Intel.
Had the gallium driver eselected. Tried the classic and it still had the same problems. The problem seems to go away when I use xf86-video-intel-2.15.0.
2.15.0 is planned to be stabilized along kernel 2.6.39, that's why it's still in ~arch when other drivers were stabilized last month. Thanks
2.15.0 has been stable for some time now, marking as FIXED.
