Currently the ebuild of dev-python/libgnomecanvas-python-2.28.1 does not specify a dependency on pygobject.  When pygobject is not installed, the installation dies like this:

libgnomecanvas-python RDEPENDs on dev-python/gnome-python-base (look at /usr/portage/eclass/gnome-python-common.eclass) that RDEPENDs in pygobject
