It seems there is a bug between samba3 and the vmware-smb-deamon. When I start vmware before samba3, samba3 crashes while booting an WinXP client. No ./samba zap will help. Only reboot matches the problem (while XP is running). Whenn I start samba3 first and as second the vmware-smb-deamon, all work quiet well. I don't know why... I checked this out by try and error. I defenitifly could not say whether it is a really bug or my configuration is bad. In newsgroup i have not found anything about. Info: With samba2 there are no problems like that.

Sorry, I have absolutely no idea about this. I think the samba-technical or the plain samba lists, perhaps the vmware lists are going to be better for getting answers about this.
Donny: adding a 'use samba' line in the vmware init script should solve this.
