Created attachment 274999 [details] colord-9999 ebuild colord >= 0.1.8 is not in the tree or overlay in attachment you find x11-misc/colord-9999 , which will make gnome-base/gnome-settings-daemon-9999 pass configure and build maybe put this in the overlay?
why did you close this bug as fixed ? It doesn't appear any changes were done to the overlay to add the proper dependency on gnome-settings-daemon.

colord 0.1.9 has now been released and is sufficient. Unfortunately gnome-settings-daemon now also checks for a pnp.ids file at config-time (and fails) @eva: any clue how to work around this? There is a --with-pnpids flag for setting the correct path, but I've got no clue where this would be in Gentoo ;-)

(In reply to comment #4) > /usr/share/libgnome-desktop/pnp.ids, it's installed by gnome-desktop:3 Err, actually it looks like it's installed by gnome-desktop:2. For some odd reason.

(In reply to comment #6) > Yep. Which makes it problematic. For instance I don't have gnome-desktop:2 > installed anymore. It looks like pnp.ids is maintained by Fedora in their hwdata package: http://git.fedorahosted.org/git/?p=hwdata.git Unfortunately, Gentoo's sys-apps/hwdata-redhat is thoroughly obsolete, unmaintained, and in any case, currently doesn't install the pnp.ids file. In addition, it blocks hwdata-gentoo, which might make it inconvenient to use as a runtime dependency for widely-used packages like gnome-settings-daemon. Perhaps we need a new package - say, sys-apps/pnp.ids - to install the file in /usr/share/misc (i.e. the directory that Gentoo already uses for pci.ids and usb.ids)?
(In reply to comment #7) > sys-apps/pnp.ids I meant sys-apps/pnp-ids, sorry for the typo.
gnome-destkop:3 in the overlay now installs the pnp.ids file in /usr/share/libgnome-desktop-3.0/. If you are using the live gnome-desktop ebuild, you will need to re-emerge it. gnome-settings-daemon-9999 in the overlay has been updated, with the dependencies fixed and the correct argument to --with-pnpids passed. This bug can now be closed :)
Thanks Alexandre.
