I am not sure how many intel users are using an external monitor, but I'm filing this bug report to let kernel maintainers know about the regression upstream bug filed here:

https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=32762

I have moved to 2.6.39 since then and not sure if the regresion bug has been fixed in further 2.6.38.x versions.

Feel free to unblock the bug #368609 if it's not "wide ranging issues".

If a backport can be identified, we will work to release it to 2.6.38. Not sure which one it is at this point.
