I had libnotify-0.4.5, and I can confirm upgrading did fix the problem. Maybe the newer libnotify version should be in the boinc ebuild? Quick Fix: [ebuild U ] x11-libs/libnotify-0.7.2 [0.4.5] USE="doc%* (-introspection) (-test)" 0 kB
Well, technically, there's no dep on x11-libs/libnotify in the ebuild (which is a bug), but 'emerge -upvD world' should have pulled 0.7 series awhile ago.
Dependency is there, it was just unversioned, because there was no older version in main tree. Added with 0.7 as minimal version.
To correct myself: my tree was slightly out of date (by a week or so) and the only version at the time didn't have the dep. Well, oops. Then again, looking at the ChangeLog, it didn't look like a package updated often.
