I have rsync the portage & source completely. 140.127.177.177 doesn't seem to be responding. Is it currently available? Thanks.
Yes,it is available everytime. You cann't ping this server because icmp packets are denied from the backbone router. http, ftp, rsync daemons are ok. http://ftp.isu.edu.tw/pub/Linux/Gentoo/ ftp://ftp.isu.edu.tw/pub/Linux/Gentoo/ rsync://ftp.isu.edu.tw/gentoo-portage/ Could you test it again? Thanks.
Interesting. I didn't try ping. Here's what I get: # rsync -avz 140.127.177.177:: rsync: failed to connect to 140.127.177.177: Connection timed out rsync error: error in socket IO (code 10) at clientserver.c(83)
Could you try to connect to my 80 port or traceroute to me? I don't set any firewall rules to deny any ip to me... http://www.net.princeton.edu/traceroute.html I use this page to traceroute to my site and the result is ok...
Trying to connect to port 80 didn't work. The traceroute also failed, with the last working hop being: "12 140.127.179.3 (140.127.179.3) 225.205 ms 224.968 ms 225.002 ms". I'll try periodically to see if it clears up.
I have 2 interfaces eth0 and eth1. The default NIC is 140.127.177.17 and the other is 192.83.191.18. Now I have disabled the other one. Could you test again? Thanks. 140.127.179.3 is the core router of my school and my machine is connect to it directly. If you can traceroute to me successfully, you will get the result as follow: ... 10 192.83.196.117 224.570 ms 232.410 ms 224.890 ms 11 140.127.160.98 225.009 ms 226.613 ms 224.880 ms 12 140.127.179.3 225.076 ms 226.057 ms 225.130 ms 13 140.127.177.17 225.150 ms 225.078 ms 225.020 ms
140.127.179.3 still seems to be the stopping point. (rsync & port 80 still failing too)
I'm so sorry to waste your time and I will check it again by myself... But I have the last two questions as follow: 1. What platform do you traceroute to me on? If you use tracert on Win32,the win32 icmp packets will be droped by 140.127.179.3. I will try to contact the administrator to solve this problem. But Unix icmp packets have no problem like this. 2. Could you connect to my 80 or 21 port through any proxy again? Thanks for your help.
Sorry... I'm stupid... I give you wrong ip address. The correct IP address is "140.127.177.17" not "140.127.177.177". Could you test again, please? The correct infomation about my site as follow: server name: ftp.isu.edu.tw server IP address: 140.127.177.17 server specs (CPU and RAM): Dual P4 Xeon 2.6G, 4GB RAM bandwidth available to the server: 1000 MBits ftp & rsync user connection limit: 1024/100 users server location (city and country): Kaohsiung, Taiwan contact name and email address: KTH <ftpadm@ftp.isu.edu.tw> rsync://ftp.isu.edu.tw/gentoo-portage http://ftp.isu.edu.tw/pub/Linux/Gentoo ftp://ftp.isu.edu.tw/pub/Linux/Gentoo
you have been given probationary access to rsync1.us.gentoo.org, which is what you should point your rsync updates to. i will be emailing the account associated with this bug instructions for updating your distfiles repository. after one week, you will be added as a permanent mirror.
