I think you want to add your KEYWORD too. (In reply to comment #0) > I still get some warnings when chown-ing about operation not permitted, but > really who cares about that if it works? This can be avoided by "use prefix || chown <blah>"
There's no direct chown, but this: cp -pPR "${WORKDIR}"/data/* "${D}"/opt/${PN} || die fowners -R root:root /opt/${PN} fperms -R a-x,a+X /opt/googleearth/resources What is the correct prefix way then?
(In reply to comment #2) > There's no direct chown, but this: > > cp -pPR "${WORKDIR}"/data/* "${D}"/opt/${PN} || die > fowners -R root:root /opt/${PN} > fperms -R a-x,a+X /opt/googleearth/resources > > What is the correct prefix way then? The correct prefix way is to leave the ebuild untouched, and let the chown operation not permitted errors to be output as they currently are. It works fine that way, and allows for less customization of ebuilds and hence easier maintainability.
(In reply to comment #3) > The correct prefix way is to leave the ebuild untouched, Umm, no. (In reply to comment #2) > What is the correct prefix way then? Same concept as comment #1: "use prefix || fowners ..." - There are already examples of this in gentoo-x86, you can use 'qgrep -H "use prefix || fowners"' to identify the examples.
FYI: sys-apps/portage-2.2.01.18706 should automatically ignore fowners in Prefix
(In reply to comment #5) > FYI: sys-apps/portage-2.2.01.18706 should automatically ignore fowners in > Prefix Does it mean the ebuild needs no changes now? If yes, please close.
Created attachment 316981 [details, diff] ebuild patch Although the fperms issue may have gone away, the original issue still persists: a ${D} needs to be changed to ${ED}. Updated patch for googleearth-6.2.2 attached. The tool to do the conversion obviously doesn't do this automatically because it is programmed to not touch the last ${D}, which is usually the correct thing to do, but not in this case.
