gpg-agent is terminated when pinentry-program is pinetry-qt4 because pinentry-qt4 fails since DISPLAY isn't set and pinentry-qt4 ignores --display. In the source, pinentry-qt4 converts "--display :0.0" to "-display :0.0" for qt, and somehow that fails -- either there's a bug in that conversion, or qt is failing to set the display. If I interpose a script which removes those command line options and instead sets DISPLAY directly, pinentry-qt4 and gpg-agent work correctly. After some testing by writing a minimal qt app, this is a bug in qt-4.6.3: -display simply doesn't work. I have no idea whether it's been fixed, given that it doesn't show up in the qt bug tracker -- but if someone else runs into gpg-agent not working with pinentry-qt4, they may have a clue here.
