Description Cedar McKay 2003-12-28 18:50:00 UTC
I have been running gentoo for a while. After I update to a new kernel (I use the gentoo-sources series of 2.4 kernels) I usually run "emerge nforce-net" to get my net driver working. This has always worked. This time it tried to emerge gentoo-dev-sources-2.6.0 as a dependency for some reason. This is not desirable to me, as i don't want the 2.6 kernel for now.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. emerge -p nforce-net
2.
3.
Actual Results:
These are the packages that I would merge, in order:Calculating dependencies ...done!
[ebuild N ] sys-kernel/gentoo-dev-sources-2.6.0
 [ebuild R ] net-misc/nforce-net-1.0.0256

Expected Results:
These are the packages that I would merge, in order:Calculating dependencies ...done!
[ebuild R ] net-misc/nforce-net-1.0.0256

please make sure your /var/cache/edb/virtuals doesnt contain reference to gentoo-dev-sources
Comment 2 Cedar McKay 2003-12-28 21:01:48 UTC
that did it. I have read a lot of the gentoo docs, and don't recall anything about this virtuals file, or its function. Do you know of a resource I could use to educate myself? Thanks for the help.
