ebuild for kde-misc/quickaccess-0.8.1-r1.ebuild

There is an update for KDE SC 4.5
I attach a quick and dirty ebuild that works for me.

Upstream seems dead, and the 4.5 fix is more breakage in another places.
We will remove it from main tree, try to find another alternative or get upstream to work on it again.

Treecleaners could you please punt?

If this is the quickaccess plasmoid that's similar to folderview, only it creates a folder menu (instead of an open view) when placed on the desktop (activity), much like folderview does when placed in a panel...

The in-tree version works just fine here! I have it on my desktop and use it daily.

After seeing the masking report on gentoo-dev, I rebuilt it, then quit to CLI and restarted kde. It built and worked fine. Not only the existing desktop plasmoids worked, but I even added, tested, and removed quickaccess plasmoids on both the desktop/activity and on panels. It all works.

FWIW, kde 4.6.3, gentoo/~amd64 no-multilib, gcc-4.5.2.

I can't guarantee that it compiles on 4.6.2 as the date on my old binpkg was Oct 8, which should have been early 4.5, and was probably the last time I did an emerge-emptytree. But I know the old merge continued to work just fine thru earlier 4.6, and I know the new build and merge continues to work just fine with 4.6.3, now.

Maybe it's the proposed ebuild here, for a branch of the original with some (apparently non-core) changes for kde 4.5, that fails?

In any case, the in-tree version 0.8.1, kde-look #101968, works just fine here. I see no reason to remove it.

I only acted as a treecleaner on scarabeus' request

It does not work for me on multilib system amd64. It is just testing ebuild, so it goes away.

Upstream is dead and unless duncan is willing to make work on it as upstream it is going to disappear.

That's sad it works on my amd64 and x86 box. I guess it will live in my private overlay until it dies for real. I want to note that folderview is not an adequate replacement. folderview cannot be navigated the way quickaccess can.

I am a bit confused. If people claim it works why @kde requested mask in the first place? The fact that upstream is dead is not always a good reason to punt an ebuild. Tomas, do you mind if we keep this package around?
Comment 7 Christopher Lee Thomas 2011-05-23 08:07:02 UTC
I am running multilib amd64, KDE 4.6.3 and QuickAccess 0.8.1 - no issues at all. I don't understand all the fuzz...

...could it be there is something wrong with your system @ Tomáš Chvátal?
Comment 8 Markos Chandras (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2011-06-02 13:33:36 UTC
Ok, since there are quite a lot of people claiming that this package actually works for them, it will remain on the tree
