Description Ulrar 2011-05-08 16:44:49 UTC
Just installed gnome-base/gnome-3.0.0 from the gnome-overlay.
Gdm can't start, but there is no error in logs. X just stop himself with no appearing reason. gdm restart X 5 times then it stop saying that too many crashes happened.

I've tried with exec gnome-session in my .xinitrc, but same, X just quit without any errors.
I have tried to lunch X with startx and then ran gnome-session, and it segmentation fault.

gnome-session 3.0.1 and 9999 both sefault.
Last X version of portage (7.4-r1) auto-configured via udev.
Last kernel 2.6.37-gentoo-r4.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. emerge =gnome-base/gnome-3.0.0
2. run gnome-session
3. enjoy the segfault
Actual Results:
Gdm restart X 5 times.
gnome-session and gnome-shell segfault

Expected Results:
Gdm run fine and I can log in gnome 3

gdm 2 ran perfectly fine this morning, and right now I'm using awesome WM who run just fine in the .xintrc

Could you try upgrading dconf to 0.7.5? That has some fixes for such cases.

Also, don't use any of the live ebuilds.

I was using the live dconf, didn't saw it.
I emerged the last version available (0.7.3-r1) and now everything works fine !
Thanks.
